Now I know I am biased because I am a Golden State Warriors fan; however, I truly believe that there was a conspiracy by the NBA against the golden state warriors. The entire world was shocked when the warriors eliminated the dallas mavericks in the first round of the playoffs; however, i wasnt shocked and i believe that every warrior fan and anyone who has knowledge of the game could have almost expected it. The warriors had the mavs number during the regular season, so why would that change in the playoffs? because they dont have "playoff experience?" give me a break! Anyhow, if anyone has been noticing lately, the NBA has been making this HUGE push to market themselves lately, especially in the past year. They are trying to attract a larger fan base and get more people to watch the game and be fans of it. They have opened their minds into having the all star game in Las Vegas, they had teams play against international pro teams during the pre season, and there is talk that David Stern wants to start an NBA in Asia. Where does this all lead to you ask? Credibility. Credibility of the game, credibility of the NBA and the competition. Lately outsiders who do not watch basketball or have any interest to the game are swayed away because the only things they hear about the NBA are negative. The brawl at Auburn hills, over paid athletes, team USA doing poorly at the world basketball championships, etcetc. Therefore David Stern has made this push to try to make the NBA as credibile as possible with the competition and the game in general. How does this tie into the Warriors you ask? Well Golden State was the #8 seed in the west and they played the #1 seed and defeated them. I guarantee David Stern did not like that one bit because it immediately hurt the credibility of the NBA game in a competition standpoint to an outsider looking in. The outsider sees a #8 seed dominate a #1 seed and they ask "how does that happen? if a team won 67 games in the regular season and loses and best of 7 game series to a team that only won 42? that doesnt make sense?" Therefore, this almost guarantees that David Stern did not want the warriors to move forward and onto the western conference finals. In addition, the warriors are not what you call you model citizen team. They have baron davis who accumulated 5 technical fouls and 1 flagarant foul during the playoffs, and then theres stephen jackson who the NBA hates just because of his bad boy attitude and his role at the brawl at Auburn hills a few years back, then there's matt barnes who was passed up and dropped by other nba teams because he didnt fit their style of play and now is thriving and finding success with the warriors. In a nutshell, the warriors couldnt go past the 2nd round because there is no way a #8 seed could go into the conference finals in the eyes of the NBA. Any outsider to the game would not see that as credible with regards to the competition in the NBA and the image of the NBA. Therefore, what did David Stern do? he got all his refs together and I seriously feel that the WORST calls were made during the Utah series. It was so obvious, especially during game 5 when they were eliminated. One play that stuck out in my mind was when the ball was loose and it was thrown into the paint where jason richardson was standing. Derek fisher got in his way and tripped jason richardson so he was unable to get the ball. once the whistle blew, i knew it was gonna be a foul on Derek fisher, but guess what...NOPE it was a loose ball foul on jason richardson! UNBELIEVABLE! Anyhow, the NBA is wack and only cares about itself and its image, therefore golden state was doomed from the start because David Stern definitely couldnt let a small team from Oakland without the greatest image make it all the way to the NBA finals. What can you do tho...Good job this year Warriors...i'm fuckin proud and as always... WE BELIEVE |
